I wanted to share a few fun things that get forgotten in the newsletter each week.
First of all, I am sure glad it is finally warm enough to get the kiddos outside for recess. After being trapped within the confines of our classroom with the same kids for almost a week, the troops were getting a little restless. I decided to get them moving a couple of different ways. We did silly walks in the hallway, which they thought was absolutely hilarious! We also danced our sillies out! The kiddos had smiles from ear to ear as they danced along with the videos from the Just Dance Kids video game!

The children also earned their silly sock party recently! They earned this party by receiving compliments from other adults in the building and by working hard and following rules in the classroom. I have a party poster for whatever party the students are working toward cut into puzzle pieces and posted on the whiteboard. At the beginning of each day, I put a number of tallies on the whiteboard. If the students are working hard and following directions, they get to keep their tallies. If they're not, though, I start to erase tallies. If there are tallies remaining at the end of the day, the students earn one party puzzle piece. Each compliment they receive from another adult in the building will earn them another puzzle piece. When they have all six pieces, they have earned whatever party they were working toward.
The students were thrilled to be able to take their shoes off and walk around in their socks all day! It was a great reward for their hard work!
(I apologize for not getting pictures of everyone for this slideshow. A few kiddos were down at breakfast when I was taking them, and I didn't have a chance to take their pictures later in the day! Sorry!)
